People all throughout the world observe Press Freedom Day on May 3 of each year. This year marks the 30th anniversary of World Press Freedom Day. There has been substantial progress made towards creating a free press and freedom of speech internationally since its announcement in 1993. The day will also serve as a reminder that enjoying all other human rights depends on press freedom as well as independent, pluralistic, and diverse media, with the subject “Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a Driver for All Other Human Rights.”
