Indian lawyer, activist, and politician Motilal Nehru belonged to the Indian National Congress. He was born in Prayagraj on May 6, 1861. He was the father of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, and a member of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. After passing the bar exam in 1883, Motilal Nehru started working as a lawyer in Kanpur. Later, he relocated to Allahabad to join the successful business that his brother Nandlal had already started.

At the age of 25, Motilal took over as the family’s only provider after the tragic death of his brother Nandlal.
